Happy Valentine’s Day from Hunt Elementary! We hope everyone has a great 4-day weekend and we will see students bright and early on Tuesday.

Today in Mrs. Rodriguez’s 4th grade class, students learned about the eye and how light travels. Students used three lenses: transparent, opaque and translucent to see the amount of light on various objects. 💡

Great news, with power fully restored in Newman we are expecting the school day to run as scheduled. All USDA guidelines are being followed and necessary precautions are being taken to ensure food safety for our students and staff following the power outage.

The power is back on in Newman and all schools are open. We are looking forward to seeing all of our students for a great Monday!

Good Morning Hunt Families and Community! Our power is back on with lights and electricity working. School will resume today, with the normal, early 1:30pm release schedule as planned. Let’s have another fantastic week!
Go Tigers!

It appears that Newman could be without power until 3:30 pm tomorrow (2/10/2020). We will still open every school tomorrow as a safe place for children to be. There will be a limited food service tomorrow, no lights, no internet, but a lot of time to read books and build relationships!

Hunt students and staff closed out their College & Career week with an exciting pep rally full of games and excitement.

Hunt Elementary students had a wonderful time at the College and Career Awareness week assembly this morning! Both students and staff participated in the fun!! Go Tigers!!!

Today, Hunt students dressed up as what they want to be when they grow up. They’re setting great goals already!

Reminder:
The deadline to enter the 2020 Future Chefs Competition is tomorrow 2/6/2020
This year victory will be twice as sweet as students try their hands at cake decorating. Please see flyer for more information.

Hunt Family Fun STEAM night was exciting and a huge success! Thank you families for attending.

“Al” from the Modesto Nuts is here to challenge us to a reading competition!

Hunt Student Council presents: College & Career Week. In order to get students thinking about different colleges and career paths they can choose from as they get older, we are having a week of dress up days starting Monday, February 3rd through the 7th.

As you're making your plans for next week, please don't forget about our STEAM Family Night on Thursday, January 30th from 5:30-7:30 pm. You can cross dinner off your list of things to do because dinner will be provided for free!

Just a reminder to all community members that there are still four upcoming dates that you can attend and offer input on the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) for the 2020-2021 school year. We hope to see you there!

Congratulations to our January Students of the Month! They excelled in the areas of academics, and showed our monthly character trait of having a growth mindset!

Yesterday, Fourth Graders in Mrs. Rodriguez’s class watched an inspirational video about Martin Luther King Jr. Then, they reflected and brainstormed on today’s world issues and wrote a speech about their own dreams using Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech as a guide. Through Flipgrid, they finally recorded themselves giving their speech. What an incredible lesson, and the students were so focused! Great job 4th graders!

Mrs. Guillen’s First Graders were excited to have a Fourth Grade friend come and read to them today. They love a good Biscuit story!
